Welcome to iDEFA website

Internet Democracy Foundation for Africa, a non-profit organization located in Kampala, Uganda, East Africa which was established in November 2012 to help spearhead the fight for freedom of speech and expression, democracy, internet freedom, transparency and internet openness using the internet as a tool at hand in Uganda and Africa as a whole through advocacy, knowledge and skill development, dialogue and access to technology.

We are a small team of enthusiasts who love what we do and are always happy to fight for the common good.

The Internet educates people on democracy, helping people stay up to date with what is happening in their government. It is the first place that most people look for information and often the only place that they look. Because the Internet is so user friendly, people are more likely to research and get involved in politics allowing people to express their opinions about the government through an alias, anonymously and judgment free. Since a person can express himself anonymously and from the comfort of his own home, the Internet gives incentive for people to participate in the government.
